DoylesRoom.com is the only poker site that is endorsed by one of the stalwarts of online poker and 10 times winner of the WSOP tournaments. Due to this, the site has been successful in attracting online poker players worldwide. Since the bulk of its patrons were American players, the UIGEA in 2006 greatly impacted the traffic volume. The site has been accepting US players off and on but has since moved on to the Cake poker network which permits US players. With the changeover, DoylesRoom.com is now making up the traffic numbers as before.

Software and Graphics

As I mentioned earlier, Doyles Room uses the Cake Poker Network which is decent and reliable. The lobby has some special features that enable mini-views that help players with small size monitors especially if they are multi-tabling. The graphics are well designed, giving the player clear information about the games and statistics. The hand histories are stored and can be exported to the local computer for analysis. Overall, the software can be easily downloaded and runs smoothly.

Game Variety and Traffic

Apart from the endorsement by poker pros, the other attraction at Doyles room is the variety of games offered. No limit Hold’em is the most popular poker variation, but other games like Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Five Card Stud, five Card Draw and Seven Card Stud are also offered. Whatever cash game or tournament you are looking for, you will surely find it at Doyles Room.

Considering that you find a number of legendary poker players online at DoylesRoom.com, the traffic to the site is also plentiful. Recent reports show that real money players at ring games touch 2000 during peak hours while tournament traffic is approximately 10000 players at peak time. The site is always full of players from all corners of the world so you will never find a shortage of players of your level to play with.

Bonus/Promotions/Loyalty Programs

The current bonus offerings from DoylesRoom.com involve a first deposit bonus that will be matched by 110% up to $550 when using the bonus code: pbcb. Click Here to register. VIP points are added to the player’s account for real money hands at cash games ranging from 0.5 to 30 points depending on the rake. There are plenty of ongoing promotions like special tournament offers and guaranteed tournaments. The players can earn VIP points from cash games and tournaments. Refer-a-friend program may fetch you $25 for a friend referral.

Tournaments and Freerolls

DoylesRoom.com offers a number of tournaments with buy-in starting from as little as $1 to hundreds of dollars. Often these are re-buy tournaments. They also have a monthly $2,50,000 guaranteed tournament which pays more than $50,000 to the winner. The site has daily tournaments as qualifiers for bigger events. Qualifiers for live poker tournaments like the World Poker tour or the WSOP are also held.

Support and Banking

Live support via chat, email support as well as telephone support is available twenty four hours a day. You can expect a response fairly quickly through any of the support channels. Doyles Room offers various payment and withdrawal methods like Neteller, Moneybookers, Instadebit and many more.

The site is run fairly well and you can expect a certain amount of integrity and trustworthiness in the site administration. After all, we expect the very best from an online poker site that is endorsed by one of the legends of the poker game.

You dont have to be a genius to know that there will be plenty of people out there saying I would be mad to extol the virtues of Limit poker, but bare with me, before you just decide that this guy is a fool Ive got some important points to make!

Firstly of all, there are so many players all over the world playing No-Limit and Pot-Limit poker that a lot of them have become very good poker players. The games out there are getting tougher all the time.

There are more and more young eager poker players out there playing with a great set of tactics and a serious approach. If you consider yourself a good occasional player then that little bit of cash on the side you used to be able to make is going to get a lot smaller very soon. You wont make the money you made a year ago, and its only going to get worse.

Ingo Fiedler and Jan Philip Rock of Hamburgs Institute of Law conducted a great study of the game and they discovered that most online poker players join up with a site, play less than 100 games, lose all of their money and never play again. This means, in short, that the bad, or inexperienced players just arent there for the taking anymore.

Another point is that No-Limit and Pot-Limit play is more aggressive than ever. This raises variance. Ok, so in theory you should be able to handle the cash fluctuations if youre a seasoned player, but you also have to handle the psychological element of this. Its not easy to play waiting for things to turn back in your favour, and it makes you all the more likely to lose your cool and play too loose.

Tight positional play is the cornerstone of Limit. Its easier to perform at lower stakes and its an easier learning curve.

Of course, the margins are tight. Im really discussing Limit from $4/$8 and up to $15/$30 but its difficult to beat the rake at the lowest level, and it can be a tough game at $15/$30

When I play, I normally start with a pretty low stake in both $5/$10  No-Limit and a $20/$40 Limit game. Sometimes Ill struggle with the former, but very rarely with the latter.

If youre ready to give Limit a try, make sure you read up on the subject first.
Id suggest Lou Kriegers Hold em Excellence and More Hold ‚m Excellence. If you want to play a bit more aggressively you can try Jennifer Harmans entry in Doyle Brunsons Super System 2: A Course in Power Poker.

Another great aspect of Limit play is that it will open up a whole new set of games for you to play that are only ever played with fixed stakes. Youre going to be able to play Stud, Stud 8, and Razz, some great games. I discovered these games when I was playing H.O.R.S.E. and it became clear to me that most of my opponents had never played stud games.

To my surprise, the difference in skill here is so vast that I have discovered a strategy that Ill pass on to you here for free. Whilst in Holdem and Omaha/8 rounds, only play premium starting hands and only draw to the nuts. Try to break even here and build your chips on the studs rounds.

Ive had loads of fun playing these tournaments. Not only has it been good for my bank balance, its really boosted me psychologically. Im in more control in these games and Im enjoying the new strategic plays Im learning. Its only really now that Im beginning to grasp that theres so much more to poker. To really consider yourself a true master of the game you need to understand all of the different disciplines and getting to grips with the Stud game is a good way to start expanding your knowledge base.

Im sure I wouldnt be the first to suggest that Phil Ivey is the best player of the game, and interestingly, none of his 7 WSOP bracelets have been won in No-Limit or Pot-Limit. Are you going to argue with him?!

The series is now in its 15th session and response from the online poker community has been huge, with many flooding to the site to take their seat at a number of the tournaments in order to try to win their share of the $17 million that is up for grabs.

Saturday saw the 15th event being played out, which was the $109 No Limit Hold’em with re-buys tournament, with re-buys priced at $100.

The tournament attracted 2,099 players to the virtual felts, all aiming to take the top spot and the $131,650 first place finish cash prize.

The tournament proved to be one of great plays and poor decisions for many of the players involved and it was of no surprise that the top spot went to a professional player.

RPM Poker sponsored professional poker player Chris “cdbr3799″ Dombrowski took the title as he managed to outlast the 2,099 strong field of players, taking control of the game from the mid stages of the tournament.

The final table saw a lot of action and players seemed to tighten up their play as they all looked to outlast as many of the players remaining as they could.

The heads up section of the game was played out between Dombrowski and “JMaster130″ but the RPM Poker professional proved to be too strong for the online Philadelphia native and saw him take control of the game and the chips right up to the point where he defeated “JMaster130″.

The final table standings ended like this:

1. cdbr3799 – $131,650
2. JMaster130 – $85,206
3. GreenGuard13 – $63,259
4. Diegohada – $47,767
5. Volody512345 – $33,566
6. Jabronee – $21,947
7. bankrollme87 – $14,847
8. mordovorotishe – $10,328
9. bdubs3737 – $7,746

There are still a large number of tournament events still to play in the Full Tilt Poker FTOPS series and so if you have missed out on your chance to play in the high profile tournament so far you still have the opportunity to do so.

Simply visit Full Tilt Poker to double your initial deposit into the site up to $600 free with the full tilt bonus code: playthepros600.

Former Full Tilt Poker professional poker player Clonie Gowen found out this weekend that she has once again failed to sue the worlds second largest online poker room for her claimed fee of $40 million.

The beauty queen was signed up to the site with the view that she would endorse the brand while she was playing poker within the public eye, either online or within live poker tournaments.

The poker beauty’s law suit made against Full Tilt Poker was based on the grounds that she believes that the online poker room failed to deliver on a promise that she would be offered a 1% share of the sites profits should she sign the endorsement deal for sponsorship by the site.

Gowen revealed that the deal was not placed onto paper format but was offered orally before she agreed terms with the site but without anything to prove her claim the case had already been refused twice before by the US district courthouse.

The US district judge spoke out about the final ruling, saying that due to the lack of evidence that the poker beauty could provide to the courts, they were unable to justify listening to the suit and so rendered it as a case judgment for the online poker room.

Gowen currently plays her poker under the endorsement of Full Tilt Poker rivals Pokerstars, showing that she is not scared to cross the borders to get a deal that she feels right for her.

The lawsuits have been flying about between the two parties for a total of 12 months, with each side issuing claims about the other with the claims been thrown out due to lack of evidence.

PokerStars currently holds the accolade of being the biggest online poker room in the world, providing poker action to well over 20 million members.

Backed by the likes of professional poker players Daniel Negreanu and Chris Moneymaker the site has a huge reputation within the poker industry, regularly sponsoring high profile players while they are in action in both online tournaments as well as live game situations.

PokerStars Bonus

The worlds biggest online poker room has decided that they are to up their first deposit match bonus from 100% up to $50, creating a more appealing 100% first deposit match bonus up to $600, falling into line with their rivals. The Pokerstars referral code that you need to use is: PSP1056

pokerstars marketing code: PSP1056

We have joined forces with PokerStars to bring you this generous bonus and you can qualify for the full bonus by following a couple of easy steps.

Download here

Use the referral code: PSP1056

One thing that should be pointed out is that the site has increased the difficulty of unlocking your bonus, increasing the point milestones to mean that players have to generate more rake in order to unlock their bonus, unlike other sites such as rivals Full Tilt Poker.

So if your looking to get the full bonus in the fastest possible time, we strongly suggest that you opt to play your poker at Full Tilt Poker, they offer the same generous first deposit match up to $600 but its easier to unlock than the one at Pokerstars.

Game Selection

As the online poker industry’s leading poker room, it comes as now surprise that the site offers a large game selection for its members to take part in, trying to offer every poker player the variant of poker that they prefer to play.

The current line up of available games at PokerStars is:

Texas Holdem
Omaha Poker
Omaha High-Low
7 Card Stud
7 Card Stud High-Low
5 Card Draw
2-7 Triple Draw
2-7 Single Draw
Razz
Badugi
HORSE
8-Game Mix
Poker Tournaments

PokerStars Traffic

Well you would be right in thinking that this site gets a huge amount of traffic to it on a daily basis, serving over 20 million poker players from all over the world.

Due to the size of the following that the site has managed to create for itself ‘peak times’ are a thing of the past, recording constant traffic to the site every hour of the day. This means that you’ll never have an issue when looking to join an active game.

With such a high volume of traffic, you will see that the games and tournaments fill up quickly at the point of opening so its strongly advised that you enter into any games that your interested in as soon as you possibly can to avoid missing out.

PokerStars Tournaments

Being the worlds biggest online poker room means that the site needs to offer some of the biggest tournaments available to players, creating their own custom tournaments as well as including tournaments that allow players the chance to win live competition seats in some of the biggest live tournaments on the planet.

Buy in’s for tournaments range to cover a wide range of poker players bankroll from as little as a couple of dollars up to hundreds of dollars for the bigger prize pool tournaments, so regardless of your financial backing, you will always find a tournament here.

PokerStars Software

PokerStars software is custom built for the brand meaning that you won’t find it on any other online poker room on the internet, this allows the site to create features and additions that they think will increase the players gaming experience while online on their site.

The graphics on the site are a little less than that of their rivals Full Tilt Poker but their software offers a great flow factor, meaning that there are no flaws within the software while it performs the tasks that the player requests it to do.

The user interface is very easy to navigate and so makes choosing the game that you want to wager your funds at a very easy task, encouraging you to search the site to find the game that is right for you.

UK born poker player Julian Thew has announced that he is to join forces with the worlds largest online poker room, Pokerstars.

The professional poker player who is based in Nottingham, England has risen up through the rankings as he plays his way into 13th position within the European poker rankings, winning over $2.5 million in poker cashes in his time at the poker felts.

Thew, who was until recently sponsored by William Hill has experienced a large amount of success globally, claiming a GUKPT title as well as winning the EPT Baden trophy in season four. The Baden trophy alone saw the player cash €670,000 in prize money.

The latest addition was only too happy to express his excitement about joining the likes of Daniel Negreanu and Barry Greenstein after completing a contract that will see the player represent Pokerstars in any game that he now plays, saying “I’m thrilled to have been offered a spot on Team PokerStars Pro roster, and I look forward to promoting the brand on my travels throughout the year.”

The addition of Thew to the Pokerstars Pro roster comes as an influx of UK based poker professionals are signing deals with the two largest online poker rooms in the industry, Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker, with James Akenhead proving to be a prime example.

It seems that there is a large number of professional poker players based within the UK that are making a name for themselves, catching the eye of the bigger firms within the industry and been considered fit enough to be placed into the roster with some of the best American and Canadian poker players in the world.

Maybe the UK based players are looking to demand more authority from their counterparts while at the tables but one thing is for sure, the recent showings by the UK based pro have got people talking about a possible victory within the upcoming World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, should the talk become truth it would be the first time in over 10 years that a UK player won the tournament.
